Hot on the heels of winning the prestigious Polaris Music Prize, the Quebec rock duo Angine de Poitrine has confirmed a 2027 world tour that brings them back to Ottawa for two nights next spring.

The oddball band, widely considered this year’s biggest breakout act, will play March 31 and April 1 at History Ottawa, a venue 10 times bigger than Minotaure, the Gatineau nightclub that hosted them earlier this year. They also played Bluesfest in July, and organizers had to move that show up to the main stage to accommodate the crowds.

It’s been a whirlwind rise to fame for the anonymous Canadian duo, who grabbed ears and dazzled viewers with a performance video uploaded by a Seattle radio station in February. They went viral almost instantly for instrumental music described as microtonal math rock, plus a stage persona framing them as aliens from another planet, dressed from head to toe in polka-dot costumes.

The spotlight propelled them onto their first world tour, selling out venues throughout Europe and North America. The 2026 schedule winds down in mid-December, followed by a two-month break before it takes off again.

Between March and June 2027, the journey is to include shows in Australia, South America, Europe, the United Kingdom, United States and Canada, wrapping up with June 30 in their hometown of Saguenay, Que.
