MONTREAL – Business events and festivals are helping Montreal tourism numbers soar this summer.
Non-profit organization Tourisme Montréal says the city is on track for a record-breaking season.
Travel from the United States between May and July is up seven per cent and travel from Canada is up five per cent compared to the same period last year.
The number of international travelers rose nearly five per cent.
The organization highlights the popularity of business events and festivals as factors driving the increase.
It predicts August and September will keep up this momentum.
“What is especially encouraging is that this growth comes from several sources and extends across the full season,” wrote Yves Lalumière, president and CEO of the organization, via press release.
