Catherine Kitts has been elected for another term as ward councillor for Orléans South-Navan.
Kitts garnered 90 per cent of the vote in the 2026 municipal election . She was first elected in a byelection in 2020 after Stephen Blais resigned from municipal politics, slowly growing her vote total in each subsequent election .
Kitts attributed her win to her “intense” work ethic and her experience in office.
“When you are new, you are finding your footing, but I have years of experience navigating city hall,” she said. “I felt I made a lot of progress these last four years but I want to see a lot of things come to fruition.”
Kitts celebrated the victory with dozens of supporters at Shoeless Joe’s Orléans on Monday evening where she circulated the room to speak with attendees about the campaigning process and her upcoming goals.
For Adam Haga, Kitts’ campaign manager, the event marked the culmination of weeks of connecting with voters.
“It has been a long summer and fall of Catherine knocking on over 10,000 doors,” he said. “She’s on the same page as her constituents.”

Looking forward to when she returns to city hall, Kitts is aiming to collaborate with OC Transpo to improve service for residents, keep property taxes low and protect farmland and rural spaces.
She ran against Jason Wing, an Algonquin College culinary graduate and owner of the Orléans-based food truck La Ha Tacos. Wing ran a campaign on improving food security, expanding small business opportunities and being more fiscally responsible.
Kitts supporters cheered and embraced, some tearfully, after the results were called.
John Bradley, a retired Navan store owner, said Kitts has had his support because of her communication and clear ambitions.
“Catherine is a great listener, she deals with people well and she brings a lot to the city,” he said. “It’s clear she’s been working hard on the Brian Coburn extension, she’d like to get the LRT moving finally and she has priorities.”
Reflecting on her long campaign, Kitts remains grateful for her supporters and the team around her.
“I pride myself on being a good communicator but I have a large ward, being suburban and rural. I would not be able to reach as many people as I did without my dedicated team.”
