A child died after a
fall from the window
of a Laurier Avenue East apartment tower on Monday evening.
“Despite valiant efforts from first responders and hospital staff, the child was later pronounced deceased at the hospital,” a police spokesperson said Tuesday. The child was younger than eight years old, the spokesperson said.
“Our hearts are with the child’s family and loved ones during this unimaginable time. We also recognize the impact this incident has on first responders and all those affected,” the police spokesperson said.
Paramedics received a call at about 6:50 p.m. on April 27, and found the child outside with injuries from an apparent fall from height. Medics took the child to hospital in life-threatening condition.
Multiple police vehicles and were at 50 Laurier Ave. E Monday evening, and part of the grounds outside the building was taped off.
