As if swimming almost four kilometres, cycling more than 180 km and then capping it all with a 42.2 km run isn’t ridiculous enough, participants in Sunday’s Ironman Canada-Ottawa are expected to be sloshing through “yellow rain warning” conditions.

Environment Canada says to expect rainfall of 80 mm or more, pumped up with thunderstorms, through the day.

The deluge is expected to spread through Sunday morning, with the heaviest rainfall is expected through the evening.

By mid-morning , the advisories included Ottawa, Pembroke, Cornwall, Kingston and Belleville, stretching through Western Quebec, to La Pêche and continuing north.

The rain conditions are expected to linger through Monday and into Tuesday, the forecasters say.
