According to an April 2026 report by Gadient Structural Engineering, which the embassy tasked with assessing the extent of visible water damage and providing a professional opinion regarding the feasibility of repair versus demolition and reconstruction, the roof had “severe deterioration” with multiple areas showing “visible rot, delamination and loss of section, particularly of roof edges.”
