Gatineau man, 41, faces three charges in woman’s shooting in Hull

A 41-year-old Gatineau man was charged Wednesday with three criminal counts after a woman was wounded Tuesday in a shooting on Dollard-des-Ormeaux Street in the city’s Hull sector.

Philippe Mineault appeared in court on charges of discharging a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and violation of a prohibition order. There was no immediate word on whether Mineault remains in detention.

Police confirmed in a release that the female victim remains in stable condition in hospital, but her condition is not considered life-threatening.

Officers arrived at the scene Tuesday just before 10:40 a.m., according to an initial media release from Gatineau police at around 1 p.m.

A large security perimeter was lifted late Tuesday, but investigators remain in a number of areas to pursue the investigation.
