The show that was going to be the second ticketed event at History Ottawa has been bumped into 2027 without explanation.
The moody American roots-rockers Houndmouth were originally scheduled to play Sept. 4 in the gleaming new jewel of Rideau Street , but the date quietly disappeared from the venue’s calendar — along with two other Canadian shows booked at History Toronto and Montreal’s Beanfield Theatre.
A Toronto-based Live Nation spokesperson, Ashley Bello, said there was no “ specific reasoning” for the postponement “to share at this time.”
Fans now have to wait until next winter to see Indiana singer-songwriter Matt Myers and his Houndmouth bandmates. They are scheduled to play Toronto on Feb. 5, Ottawa on Feb. 6 and Montreal on Feb. 7. Tickets purchased for the originally scheduled shows will be honoured, or you can buy them online at ticketmaster.ca.
The postponement means the next show at the new downtown venue History Ottawa will be Icelandic blues rockers Kaleo on Sept. 9. The all-ages date is almost sold out.
Meanwhile, Live Nation has promised that the out-of-service elevators that sparked traffic-flow issues at History Ottawa’s inaugural concert on Aug. 20 will be working by the time a crowd arrives for the next show.
“Due to unforeseen technical issues, our elevators were not operational as planned,” said a statement provided by Live Nation’s senior communications director, Tonisha Bath, who’s also based in Toronto.
“This is a priority and is being addressed, with the passenger elevator expected to be fully operational for our next show. We appreciate our guests’ patience and understanding.”
Other acts scheduled to come to the new club this fall include Two Door Cinema Club on Oct. 2, Modest Mouse on Oct. 4, Bahamas on Oct. 7 and Marianas Trench on Oct. 24.
Two popular artists from the nation’s capital are also big enough to make it to the History Ottawa stage, with Run Away To Mars singer TALK (aka Stittsville’s Nick Durocher) performing on Dec. 4 and pop powerhouse Jamie Fine on Dec. 12.
