Husband charged with ‘femicide’ of missing spouse, 64

A 63-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the disappearance of his 64-year-old wife .

Olga Konokhov was reported missing by police last week. Police described the incident as suspicious.

On Friday, the homicide squad reported Viktor Konokhov has been arrested and is scheduled to appear in court later Friday.

“Olga was reported missing after last being in contact with someone in January 2026,” police said.

“Her remains have not been located, and the investigation remains ongoing,” police said in a release.

It is Ottawa’s sixth homicide of the year.

Police have classified the crime as a “femicide,” which OPS defines as “the misogynist killing of women and girls because of their gender, overwhelmingly committed by men.” It is the second femicide of 2026.
