Impaired driving charges laid after Hwy. 427 crash sends 6 to hospital, 1 with ‘life-threatening’ injuries

A 24-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after six people were injured, including one critically, following a two vehicle crash on Highway 427 early Sunday morning.

Provincial police say a sedan and an SUV collided in the northbound ramp of the highway leading to westbound Highway 401 just before 3:30 a.m.

Police say six people were taken to the hospital, one in life-threatening condition.

Paramedics told CityNews four of those taken to a trauma centre suffered “life-altering” injuries.

Investigators have charged Navdeep Singh of Kitchener with two counts of operation while impaired causing bodily harm, two counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm, two counts of failing to stop at an accident resulting in bodily harm, and one count of operation while impaired.
