Incumbent councillor Isabelle Skalski has been re-elected in Osgoode, with 88 per cent of the vote as of 9:50 p.m.
In her victory speech at No Go Coffee Co., a cafe in Osgoode, Skalski thanked volunteers, door-knockers, family and friends, garnering laughs and cheers.
The quaint cafe was full of community members, with the grinning candidate entering roughly 30 minutes before the closing of the polls at 8:00 p.m. Complimentary drinks, snacks and sandwiches were handed out.
The crowd broke into claps and cheers as incumbent mayor Mark Sutcliffe was elected for a second term, but grew restless as results were slow to come in.
“I think Mayor Sutcliffe has been a really great colleague and confidant,” Skalski said. “I always felt well supported as a councillor, and I’m really looking forward to working with him again.”
Finally, Skalski took to the stage at 9:30 p.m., as broadcasts from CBC and CTV projected her win.
Skalski, a Carleton graduate and former Privy Council policy adviser, says her priority on council will be infrastructure investment, improving ward traffic and road safety, and addressing ditch issues in rural Ottawa.
She was first elected in a byelection last year after three-term councillor George Darouze resigned to run in the 2025 Ontario election.
In the July 2025 byelection, Skalski took home 34 per cent of the vote against a field of 10 opponents, including former Osgoode township mayor and Ottawa city councillor Doug Thompson.
The councillor-elect said she took a different approach to her campaign this election by completing a “village walkabout” in the 10 rural Osgoode villages.
“I walked the community from their perspective and their eyes. It reaffirmed that I’m focusing on the right things,” Skalski said.
This election campaign was her first as an incumbent and her first general election.
“In the byelection, I was up against 11 other people. It was a different space,” she said. “The next four years are focusing on the right space and validating that I’m in the right direction.”
Mick Johnson, a Skalski supporter, was “elated” at the win.
“I have the utmost confidence in Councillor Skalski because everything she said, she’s delivered on, Johnson said. “When it comes to supporting the community, the charities and listening to everybody’s issues, Isabelle is always open.”
Ottawa’s city clerk is expected to confirm the election results on or before this Friday.
