Canada is set to face its toughest test at the World Cup when it takes on Morocco in the round of 16. The Atlas Lions, the reigning African Cup of Nations holders, are currently ranked No. 6 in the world but needed a penalty shootout to defeat the Netherlands in the round of 32.
For the second straight knockout match, Canadian captain Alphonso Davies will start on the bench as Ali Ahmed gets the nod at left midfield. Davies looks to be available to come on as a substitute, which he did in the win over South Africa.
Moise Bombito gets the start at centre-back alongside Luc De Fougerolles, while Niko Sigur was named a starter for the first time in place of Nathan Saliba in the midfield.
The winner of today’s game will meet either Paraguay or France in a quarterfinal matchup in Boston on July 9.
