VANCOUVER – Lundin Mining Corp. says it has suspended operations at its Caserones mine complex due to heavy snowfall which has disrupted power at the site in Chile’s Atacama region.
The company says it suspended operations at the large open pit mine on June 18 due to the storm that has also limited access at the site.
It says operations at Caserones are expected to resume when power has been restored and better accessibility has been established.
The company also says its Candelaria mine complex in the same region has seen its mining operations affected by heavy rainfall, but the mill there continues to operate using existing ore stockpiles.
Lundin says conditions are improving, but access restrictions and logistical delays may continue to affect operations in the region for several more days.
Lundin holds a 75 per cent stake in Caserones and an 80 per cent interest in Candelaria.
