A 40-year-old man is facing charges of criminal harassment, mischief to religious property and breach of probation following an incident at a church in Kanata on May 3.
The Ottawa Police Service announced the arrest of the man, who was not identified, in a news release on May 8.
At approximately 9:20 a.m. on May 3, police said originally, a suspect entered the church on Rothesay Drive, damaged an item on the high altar and shouted profanities before fleeing in a vehicle.
No one inside the building interacted with the suspect, police said, adding that no weapons were reported and that there were no reported injuries.
The man who was arrested was expected to appear in court in Ottawa on Friday afternoon, police said.
