A man was taken to hospital after police and paramedics responded to a reported stabbing near Bank and McLeod streets Tuesday morning, police said.
Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps said the man was found near the corner of Bank and McLeod streets after first responders received a call at 9:45 a.m.
The man sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Deschamps told the Ottawa Citizen.
“Paramedic stabilized his condition on scene and during transport to the hospital, where he was in serious but stable condition,” said Deschamps.
The Ottawa Police Service said officers responded to the scene and found “one person with minor injuries” after a reported “assault involving an edged weapon.”
“Officers remain on scene gathering information as part of the ongoing investigation,” police said in an emailed statement.
Crime scene tape cordoned off sidewalks in two different areas on Bank Street as police conducted an investigation. The second area was between Argyle and Flora streets.
Police said the two crime scenes were connected.
There were no apparent signs of break in as police redirected pedestrians to circle the block to get to their destinations.
