MONTREAL – Montreal-area home sales were down 11.6 per cent year-over-year in September as the province’s real estate board says residential markets across Quebec are “a long way” from reaching a balance between inventory and demand.

The Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers says 3,082 residential properties changed hands throughout the month in the Montreal census metropolitan area, down from 3,486 in September 2025.
