OPP open homicide investigation into death of woman in Spencerville

The death of a 37-year-old woman in Spencerville on Saturday, Aug. 29, is now being investigated as a homicide.

The Ontario Provincial Police, in a news release Tuesday, identified the victim as Chelsea Swinwood of “Grenville”.

Officers from the Grenville County OPP detachment had found the woman dead on Saturday at a residence on Crowder Road.

No other details about the homicide were immediately released.

Police said, both Tuesday and in an initial Saturday release about the death, that they believe it was an isolated incident, with no signs of a broader threat.

Spencerville is about 75 kilometres south of Ottawa.
