Police in Kingston confirm they have arrested and charged an Ottawa Police Services officer in connection with off-duty intimate partner violence accusations.
In a release, Kingston police say they received a request from OPS in March this year to “conduct further investigation into an OPS member who had been arrested and charged with one count of assault and one count of criminal harassment.”
The officer was released with conditions and scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Kingston police said further investigation provided “reasonable grounds” to charge the officer with one count of careless use of a firearm and careless storage of a firearm.
The accused was rearrested on Monday and again released on an undertaking with conditions.
The officer is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Kingston police said no further details will be provided in order to protect the privacy of those involved and “to maintain the integrity of the investigation.”
