A 23-year-old Ottawa man faces a number of charges after a provincial police investigation into unauthorized possessions of firearms.
The OPP-led Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team began an investigation in February.
Search warrants were executed March 10 on two Ottawa residences. Ottawa police tactical officers and OPP members assisted in the operation.
The officers seized two 12-gauge shotguns (one of them with a sawed-off double barrel) as well as ammunition and a cellphone.
Ryley Major was charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm;
- possession of a prohibited weapon;
- possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition;
- And two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
He was released after a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of justice in Ottawa on April 23.
