The “suspicious deaths” of two Ottawa residents are now being investigated by the Ottawa Police Service homicide unit.
In a Monday news release, police identified the deceased as Kesi Fevrier, 27, and Kingsley Nwude, 34, after their bodies were reportedly found by Sûreté du Québec and the Ottawa Police Service at two separate scenes on Saturday morning.
Fevrier’s death is being introduced as a femicide, police said.
Shortly before 1 a.m. on Aug. 22, an individual was located inside a vehicle with injuries considered to be suspicious after Sûreté du Québec responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 50 near Papineauville, Que. The individual was transported to hospital and died shortly after.
Sûreté du Québec then requested assistance from the Ottawa Police Service as part of the investigation. Officers went to a dwelling in the 200 block of Guigues Avenue in Lowertown and found a second individual just after 11 a.m. that same morning.
Paramedics told the Ottawa Citizen at the time that a woman was declared dead at the scene.
Police did not indicate how the two deaths may be related, but said there is no threat to public safety as investigators continue to gather evidence and speak with potential witnesses.
