The Ottawa Police Service said Wednesday it was seeking the drivers of “suspect” and “witness” vehicles in connection with the investigation of a south-end collision that killed a motorcyclist last week.

At 5:56 a.m. on Oct. 2, emergency crews responded to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle near the intersection of West Hunt Club and Merivale roads. The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old woman, was transported to hospital, but died there.

The other vehicle involved in the collision left the scene before police arrived.

In a release dated Oct. 7, the OPS said investigators had determined that the other vehicle was a dark-coloured Ford Escape and that it would have had front-end damage, specifically on the right-side fog-light area.

In addition, the release said investigators were also seeking to speak with a witness who had been driving a red pickup truck near the area at the time of the collision.

The Ottawa Police Service said it would like to speak with the driver of this red pickup truck as a witness to the fatal hit-and-run that killed a motorcyclist on Oct. 2.

The driver of the pickup truck was not being identified as a suspect, it added.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision or anyone who may have dash-camera or other video that could assist investigators was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Fatal Collision Investigation Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2345.
