An Ottawa man who coached soccer for years is facing multiple charges in connection with sexual offences dating back to 2015.
The Ottawa Police Service said on Oct. 2 that Raul San Martin Salas, 62, had been charged with more than a half-dozen offences, including sexual assault , sexual interference with a person under 16, sexual exploitation of a young person and more.
A news release said the OPS Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Unit believed there may be additional victims or incidents related to the investigation in the Ottawa area.
San Martin Salas was known to have coached children’s soccer for “numerous years” with various sanctioned and unsanctioned clubs in Ottawa, police said.
Police also released a photo of San Martin Salas, saying young victims may not be familiar with his legal name.
