A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene on Tuesday night in Ottawa’s south end.

Emergency crews responded to the call at 10:20 p.m. at the intersection of Conroy Road and Johnston Road, just south of Walkley Road.

A male pedestrian had non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital in stable condition, paramedics spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps said. Police confirmed the man was in his 40s.

This marked Tuesday’s fourth collision between a vehicle and a vulnerable road user.

An elderly cyclist was transported to the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Fairbanks Avenue and Crestview Road at around 2 p.m. in the Alta Vista neighbourhood.

At around the same time, a male pedestrian in his teens was transported to hospital in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Earl Armstrong Road and Canyon Walk Drive in Riverside South.

Earlier on Tuesday , a 23-year-old woman was transported to hospital for life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a vehicle on Riverside Drive near the RA Centre.

Last week, Ottawa police issued an urgent plea calling on all road users to make safety a priority, with drivers urged to focus on the road and to give vulnerable road users the space they need to travel safely.
