Peel Regional Police (PRP) are searching for two men accused of running an apartment rental fraud scheme that allegedly duped at least eight victims and led to more than $30,000 in losses across Mississauga.
Investigators say the scheme unfolded between January and February 2025, when the suspects allegedly posted fake rental listings on social media. Victims were invited to view an apartment and met individuals who pretended to be the current tenants.
Police say victims then signed rental agreements online and sent e‑transfers to secure the unit — only to discover later that the apartment was not available, and the person posing as the landlord had vanished.
Arrest warrants have been issued for Jashanpreet Sidhu, 23, of Saskatoon, Sask., on charges of fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. Priyanshu Goel, 24, of Surrey, B.C., is also wanted on a charge of fraud over $5,000.
Police say none of the victims received the promised accommodations or had their money returned.
Anyone with details about the suspects or the rental scheme is asked to contact the Fraud Bureau. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
These allegations have not yet been proven in court.
