Researchers have confirmed a tornado near Kemptville on the afternoon of Aug. 2.
The Northern Tornadoes Project, based at Western University in London, Ont., posted an online report saying a damage survey conducted four days later had found tree damage indicating a maximum wind speed of 115 km/h over “a short, narrow path” with a maximum width of 80 metres over its track of 1.18 kilometres.
A photo included with the report, taken by a drone, showed faint markings in a grass field before the tornado entered a wooded area, where several trees were downed.
The project classified the tornado, which was reported at 3:45 p.m., as EF0 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. That is the low end of ratings ranging from EFO to EF5.
No injuries were reported from the Kemptville storm, the NTP report added.
