Residents voice concerns about Alto high-speed rail project at Navan town hall

“A rail line is being built for the benefit of a very small number of very well-off Canadians living in Toronto, Ottawa, to Montreal and notionally Quebec City as well, that will cut through rural areas, farmland, people who are less well off, causing far greater damage to them than the marginal advantages being offered by the prospect of a 90-minute faster train trip from Ottawa to Toronto,” Reid said in his speech. “Sixty minutes faster from Ottawa to Montreal than exists now.”
