The Ontario Provincial Police says one of its officers from the Lanark County Detachment was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 7 on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The officer was in an OPP vehicle assisting with an investigation when it was involved in the collision near Townline Road in the Carleton Place area, police say. A news release from the OPP did not specify whether its vehicle was in motion or was parked.

The OPP said a 71-year-old person from Ottawa who had been driving the other vehicle was transported to hospital with “serious injuries.” The Oct. 3 release said the officer had minor injuries.

The Special Investigations Unit , Ontario’s police oversight agency, invoked its mandate to investigate the collision.
