Early Thursday morning, Ottawa Fire Services tamed a large fire that engulfed multiple buildings in rural south Ottawa.
At about 12:45 a.m., a 9-1-1 caller reported that a large barn and possibly nearby buildings on fire in south of Metcalfe on Eighth Line Road, an area with no fire hydrants, OFS said in a media release.
Aside from the heavy flames, firefighters dealt with structures collapsing, hydro wires and a fuel tank exposed on one building, until the fire was under control just after 2 a.m.
Fire Services set up a “fire watch” truck to monitor the area.
The city sent a fire services investigator to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
