Smiths Falls man charged with second-degree murder in death of Spencerville woman

A 35-year-old Smiths Falls man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 37-year-old woman in Spencerville on Saturday, Aug. 29.

Justin Donovan-Biscope, who was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 3, is also facing a charge of indignity to a body.

The Ontario Provincial Police had identified the victim as Chelsea Swinwood of Spencerville.

Officers from the Grenville County OPP detachment had found the woman dead on Aug. 29 at a residence on Crowder Road.

In an email to the Ottawa Citizen on Sept. 2, the OPP confirmed that Swinwood had earlier been reported missing, having last been seen in Prescott on Aug. 22.

No other details about the homicide have been released.

Donovan-Biscope was to have appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Friday, Sept. 4.

Spencerville is about 75 kilometres south of Ottawa.
