S&P/TSX composite down, U.S. markets also lower as oil tops US$100 per barrel

TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index was down nearly 300 points in late-morning trading, while U.S. stock markets also fell as the price of oil topped US$100 per barrel.

The October crude oil contract was up US$3.98 at US$100.03 per barrel.
