“This is causing heightened anxiety and stress for staff who were desperate for more staffing, not less. Poor working conditions are intertwined with reduced quality of patient care causing higher rates of re-admissions, hospital acquired infections, and even deaths,” the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 4000 said in a statement.
