VANCOUVER – Home sales in the Vancouver region were 10.2 per cent lower last month compared with a year ago.
Greater Vancouver Realtors says there were 2,024 home sales in October, which was 22.5 per cent below the 10-year seasonal average.
Andrew Lis, the board’s chief economist and vice-president of data analytics, says market participants took a step back in October to recalibrate amid some suspenseful distractions for both buyers and sellers, including an interest rate hike from the Bank of Canada.
The composite benchmark price for all types of residential properties in Vancouver was $1,068,600, a 5.2 per cent decrease from October 2025 and a 0.7 per cent dip from September 2026.
There were 4,805 new listings on the market last month, down 11.6 per cent year-over-year but one per cent above the 10-year seasonal average.
Meanwhile, total inventory fell 4.3 per cent year-over-year to 15,688.
