The province’s police watchdog has opened an investigation file into an allegation of sexual assault lodged against an on-duty Ottawa police officer in an incident earlier this year.
The Special Investigations Unit website shows the Ottawa Police Service contacted the SIU last Friday after OPS received a sexual assault complaint.
An SIU release states: “The reported incident occurred in January 2026 and relates to an alleged sexual assault involving an on-duty Ottawa Police Service officer and woman.
“Two investigators have been assigned to the case.”
No other information has been released by OPS or the SIU.
The SIU investigates the conduct of police officers that may have resulted in a death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
