A woman was arrested after what the Ottawa Police Service described as a “hate-motivated incident” on an OC Transpo bus.
At about 10:35 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, a woman got onto a bus at the OC Transpo station at 1360 Bank St. and started to verbally confront two passengers, using racial slurs and making threats, police said in a news release the following day.
Another passenger was then assaulted when he attempted to intervene, police said.
OC Transpo special constables went to the location and arrested a woman, who was held until the Ottawa police arrived. The suspect was to appear in court on Monday, April 27.
A Hate and Bias Crime Unit investigation is ongoing, and police would like to speak with any witnesses to the incident.
