A 57-year-old woman has been charged with impaired driving following a collision that left one man dead and another seriously injured after a car reportedly backed into a Vanier business late Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to the collision on the 100-block of McArthur Avenue at 5:40 p.m., where a vehicle struck the front of a business, injuring two men inside.
A 30-year-old man was critically injured and died on the way to the hospital, police said, while a 32-year-old man was also taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
On Tuesday evening, a red SUV rested in the westbound lane of McArthur, stationed perpendicular to the two-storey building with main-level signage for a barber shop.
The 57-year-old woman was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Police are seeking witnesses and ask anyone with information or who may have cameras on their properties or home, or dashcam footage that may have captured the incident, to come forward.
