CBC’s flagship Toronto news morning radio show is getting a new host.
Longtime journalist Chris Glover has been announced as the new host of the network’s popular “Metro Morning” and will be officially stepping up to the microphone on May 21, the public broadcaster announced Wednesday in a news release.
Glover, who has previously been a guest host on the radio show, has had an extensive 17-year career with CBC, including working as a producer, election anchor and host of CBC’s investigative TV show “Marketplace.” He has won multiple awards throughout his career, including a Radio Television Digital News Association award for his 2023 coverage of Toronto’s mayoral byelection.
“Joining the Metro Morning team as the next host is a dream come true,” the Whitby native said in CBC’s news release. “I admire the show’s ability to empower, entertain and bring people together, so this opportunity is an honour.”
“Metro Morning” has previously been hosted by veteran anchors such as Andy Barrie, Matt Galloway, and most recently, David Common, who had hosted the show since October 2023.
Common left the show in January to take over on CBC News Network as host of CBC Morning Live.
Metro Morning airs on CBC Radio (99.1 FM) from 5:30 to 8:30 a.m. Monday to Friday.
