A six-year-old child died Thursday after being pulled from the water near Hog’s Back, the Ottawa Police Service said.
A news release from police said the child was reported missing in the area of Riverside Drive and Hog’s Back Road at about 5:10 p.m.
The child was located in the water a short time later and was brought to shore, where bystanders began life-saving efforts.
The child was then transported to hospital, but was pronounced dead there.
“Support services have been made available to the child’s family and the emergency personnel involved in the response,” the police release said, adding that the investigation was ongoing.
