A 40-year-old Ottawa man faces criminal charges in connection with a collision last December in the Drummond-North Elmsley Twp area that claimed the life of a 10-year-old child.
The crash occurred on Highway 7, when a marked Ontario Provincial Police cruiser was struck by a pickup truck with three people on board.
The child in the truck was transported to a trauma centre by Air Ornge service but was declared deceased the following day.
Two others in the truck were treated for serious injuries.
Following investigation, Matthew Bigras, of Ottawa has been charged with multiple charges of dangerous driving and impaired driving causing bodily harm and death.
He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Aug. 24.
